Director of Teaching and Learning, Dr. Antoinette Gray

The Teaching & Learning Department of Hazel Crest School District 152.5 serves as the academic heartbeat of the district, driving instructional excellence, professional growth, and student-centered innovation. Led by Dr. Antoinette Gray, Director of Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Levy, the department is committed to empowering educators and students alike to reach their full potential. Its core mission is to educate, elevate, and empower.

Dr. Gray is deeply committed to being a lifelong learner and brings 18 years of experience in education, spanning both elementary and higher education settings. Her leadership is grounded in a passion for equity, excellence, and continuous improvement. In collaboration with the District Administrator of Discipline, Mr. David Arroyo, and the Coordinator of Family and Community Engagement, Ms. Michelle Hemp, the department leads district efforts in restorative practices and family and community engagement initiatives, ensuring that learning is inclusive, culturally responsive, and rooted in strong school-home partnerships.

Grounded in the district’s mission to “empower students to follow their unique path to greatness,” Teaching & Learning oversees curriculum development, instructional strategies, assessment practices, and professional development initiatives. The department ensures that all teaching practices are rigorous, relevant, and responsive to the diverse needs of our learners. Thus, through the transformational process, our “growth is not an event -it’s a mindset. We evolve together, lead together, and learn together so that every student can thrive.”
